When veteran pastry chef and baking instructor Michelle Tampakis was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2006 she was compelled to think the condition might hinder her successful career. Encouraged by friends, family and devoted clientele, Michelle began developing gluten-free versions of the baked goods she had been teaching prospective pastry chefs throughout her profession.

Her passion for baking and the art of pastry, her 10 years crafting specialty cakes, and her 25 years as a pastry educator fuel her ability to create delicious and stunning gluten-free cakes and confectionery items for every occasion.

Pastry is an artful science, a harmony of exactness. At Whipped Pastry Boutique we believe that every bite should satisfy and delight. The fact that our products are gluten-free comes second to the fact that they are utterly addictive and absolutely delicious.

We select the finest ingredients available to create products that are indistinguishable from traditional wheat based items; if we didn’t tell you, you would never know.

  • 2012WPB Founded

    Michelle Tampakis gets WPB off the ground.
  • July 2012We're In Business

    Landed our first big client- a juice and smoothie business with multiple locations requesting muffins.
  • August 2012Breaking Ground

    Broke ground on our commercial kitchen space at 37 Richards Street.
  • October 2012Our First Kitchen

    Started baking for client out of a rented kitchen in a Brooklyn Heights Church. Our first order was delivered October 25, 2012.
  • October 28, 2012Hurricane Sandy

    Hurricane Sandy devastated the East Coast and our Red Hook community, causing months of delays to our building plans.
  • January 2013A Dedicated Home

    We moved into our kitchen at 37 Richards Street.
  • July 2013Growth

    We landed our 2nd big client: a nationwide cupcake company that was renovating one Manhattan location to be 100% gluten free, with us providing everything.
  • September 2013Our Walk-ins

    We purchased and installed two walk-in boxes: one a fridge and the other a freezer.
  • January 2014Mixing it Up

    Add a dough sheeter and an 80qt mixer, in addition to the 60qt, 30qt and 20qt mixers we already have.
  • February 2014Specialty Growth

    Landed a specialty grocer with locations in Westchester for cake pops, cookies and muffins.
  • March 2014More of Manhattan

    We landed a huge Manhattan Hotel requesting breakfast, lunch and dinner items.
  • September 2014A Metropolitan Chain

    Landed a specialty grocer with 15 Metropolitan area locations, for cookies and loaf cakes.
  • November 2014Ovens Ready

    Added another pair of convection ovens, bringing the total to 4.
  • August 2015Doubling Up

    Doubled our footprint in the building we occupy, from 800 square feet to 1600. We added a mezzanine as well.
  • October 2015Sliced Bread

    Purchased a bread slicer for the loaf breads we were supplying several customers.
  • June 2016Women Owned

    Applied for and received Women Owned Business Certification from NY State.
  • November 2017Now New Jersey

    Landed another upscale grocery retailer with over 100 locations, we will provide baked goods to all NJ locations.
  • March 2018Sliced Biscotti

    Added another slicing machine for the biscotti.
  • February 2019And More Refrigeration

    Added additional refrigeration for finished product packaged for pick up.
  • October 2019...and Amazon!

    We started selling on Amazon.
